Mount St Helens 08/11/2008 : We chartered a helicopter from Hillsboro Aviation (503-648-2831) to take us on a one hour in depth tour of Mt. St. Helens! Our pilot, Aaron Clark, was awesome and we greatly enjoyed Trevor and Bentley as well! I used two cameras for this shoot - Nikon D2x with 70-200mm VR Nikkor Telephoto (ISO 500) and Nikon D3 with 17-35mm Nikkor Wide Angle (ISO 500) - was my neck ever sore! But it was fantastic to have this type of photographic flexibility!

Grand Canyon 9/21/2008 : Unfortunately, we were not able to convince our helicopter pilot to take the doors off like we did at Mt. St. Helens but we were still able to capture many images without window reflection! D3 is still in the shop so we used Nikon D700 with 17-35mm wide angle lens and Nikon D2X with 70-200mm VR lens.

Flowers in La Conner, WA 2008 : I was passing through La Conner recently and was surprised to discover that there were a few flowerfields afterall! I am not certain if there was a tulip festival this year - apparently the late snows devastated the emerging crop. I'm experimenting with a new lens - a 17 -35 Nikkor wide angle lens with 2.8 fstop and I have to say I am impressed with the capabilities of this lens. These shots were all taken during the waning light of an impending sunset AND without vibration reduction - all are at 400 iso.

Stonehenge 2006 : 06/05/2006: I went on a special "Inner Circle" Tour hosted by Astral Tours - only 16 of us plus our guide. No other tourists and no restrictions! We were allowed to go inside the circle and get up close and personal with the stones. It was magical! I have quite a few more images to post but must wait until after the Mukilteo lighthouse festival!

Seattle 09/29/2005 : These are some images I took last fall when my good friend Kay Austen and I visited Seattle. Our plan was to wander somewhat aimlessly towards Pike's Place Market but we got waylaid by a very colorful anti-war demonstration near Westlake Center. I am experimenting with photo-illustration techniques for many of the market images but kept the demonstration images intact.
